Mural for Copper Gallery and North Miami CRA

The mural for Copper Gallery began as a concept proposed by Geo Darder, CEO of Copper Gallery, to the North Miami CRA. Geo was inspired by the work I had previously done for the CRA offices and wanted to create something similar but with a unique twist. His vision was to subtly incorporate the attributes of the Orisha Oshun into the design.

Drawing from this inspiration, I used geometric patterns to form a spiral starting from five points—five being a number associated with Oshun. The spiral then expands into a multitude of shapes, symbolizing Oshun as the origin and mother of many. To further represent Oshun, I employed a palette dominated by yellow tones, while various shades of copper were used to reflect the essence of Copper Gallery.

This mural was funded by a grant awarded to me by The North Miami CRA, with the support of the arts and culture director, Michelle Mckoy. The piece was primarily created using spray paint, with invaluable assistance from Nate Petit-Due.
